Overview:

Responsibilities:

Engineering Operational performance 

  • Manages the process of identification and analysis of areas for efficiency enhancement to assist the affiliate to develop work practices for enhanced efficiency by providing economic and technical skills, knowledge and experience in respect of all mechanical and electrical engineering issues.  
  • Manage the assurance programs to ensure that safety, environmental and sustainability procedures are adhered to in respect of all mechanical and electrical engineering issues,

Asset Management Processes

  • Work with the management of the affiliate mines to review equipment lifecycle planning.
  • Assist the affiliate mines to conduct long term planning by generating and quarterly updating of a SBU capital book which identifies all capital purchases over 5 years utilizing life of mine plans.
  • Advise the affiliate mines on the best Asset Management tools to track assets and analyze performance and availability data
  • Develop and advise on ways to optimize asset control and inventory management processes
  • Develop and continuously improve policies in respect of capital assets and inventory systems with the capability to reconcile all assets with the current asset registers as well as linking it to the financial records and lifecycle of the particular asset

 

Asset Maintenance and Disposal 

  • Support the Precious Metals SBU mines to conduct risk analysis on critical assets.
  • Develop and continuously improve policies and procedures to effectively maintain assets by the affiliate sites
  • Develop and continuously improve asset life cycle costing models for all major assets that will include the most economical disposal time of assets.

Productivity Improvement Strategies for Assets

•       Maximize the operational life of assets.

•       Increase asset availability, utilization and performance.

Asset Management Audits

  • Audit compliance to optimized asset control and inventory management processes that track accountability, location, maintenance, contracts and lifecycle status.
  • Through audits, ensure compliance with all maintenance requirements to maintain guarantees on critical assets.
  • Audit compliance to policies in respect of capital assets and inventory systems, current asset registers and associated financial records.

Annual Report

  • Provides internal audit department with the information necessary to complete the corporate integrated annual report in respect of all assets and the life cycle management thereof by the Precious Metals SBU.

 

Summary reports

  • Provide summary reports in respect asset management practices and other activities included in audits conducted in this respect.

 

Records

  • Ensure complete records and history is kept of all recommendations and enhancement projects initiated and recommended.

 

Qualifications:

A bachelor degree in mechanical, electrical engineering or related. A MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification would be preferable.

 

+/- 20 years experience in mining and/or the minerals sector of which 5 - 10 years must be in a senior role in mining operations.

Mineral Resource Manager — Precious Metals SBU

Overview:

The Mineral Resource Manager provides technical support for the effective identification, delineation, estimation, extraction and reporting of the available resources and ensures that the systems and procedures employed in measuring and maintaining the available resources are benchmarked internationally.


He provides support to the affiliate mines and the project office to ensure resource planning, grade control ore body management, mine survey, sampling, estimating, resource and reserve reporting, metal/mineral accounting and other activities are conducted according to Standard Operating Procedures.  In cases where these are not available or are outdated, he will ensure these Standard Operating Procedures are developed and implemented.


Enhance and monitor compliance of the Precious Metals SBU mines to the relevant Standard Operating Procedures.

 

He prepares JORC compliant resource and reserve statement in respect of the Precious Metals SBU for inclusion in the Corporate integrated annual report.

Responsibilities:

Resources Planning and Design

  • Ensure that resource planning by the mines is done within the business objectives of Ma’aden and the Precious Metals SBU.
  • Ensure that resource planning cycles and time frames are aligned with Ma’aden and the Precious Metals SBU business planning cycles.
  • Ensure resource optimization through correct planning and design of mining cycles and in-situ resource values.
  • Ensure that the mine planning and design teams consider on mine/project resource generation grades and tons in producing mining depletion options.

 

Grade Control

  • Confirm that establish cut-off grades and grade/tonnage criteria are correctly determined and ensure compliance by mines.
  • Conduct risk analysis on resource plans.
  • Ensure appropriate grade control and dilution strategies are designed and implemented on mines.

 

Ore Body Management  

  • Ensure that correct and consistent Geological ore body modelling and estimation is conducted at the affiliate mines.
  • Ensure that the resource delineation at the affiliate mines is conducted timeously and in coordination with the mine planning department.
  • Ensure that the resource is maintained using data from actual production and MCF determinations
  • Utilize the appropriate software to ensure that the ore body is mined in the most economical manner taking cognisance of mining at the average resource grade.
  • Institute measures and directives as to ensure that the Mineral Reserves are effective extracted by following sound mine design and method selection by mines in the Precious Metals SBU.
  •  

Mine Survey, Sampling and Estimating

  • Coordinate and oversee that suitable Mine Surveying techniques and technologies are employed and complied with by the mines in the affiliates
  • Interact with the Mine Surveyors at the mine sites to ensure that that the recommended techniques are correctly followed.
  • Design and maintain a robust mine sampling regime that will provide results that is customized for the different ore bodies and purposes and provide results that is as accurate as is needed to conduct suitable resource adjustments and estimating activities.
  • Design and ensure that mines implement resource adjustments and estimating processes that will feed into resource and reserve reports
  • Ensure that the estimating processes are at the desired level of accuracy.

 

Resource/Reserve Reporting

  • Advise Precious Metals SBU mines on best practice to determine mine/project resources.
  • Obtain the grades and tonnages for areas and volumes of mineralized rock from each mine for inclusion in Resource/Reserve reports.
  • Prepare a JORC compliant resource and reserve statement for the Precious Metals SBU.

 

Metal/Mineral Accounting

  • In conjunction with the affiliate mines develop, implement and maintain a metal/mineral accounting system that will track the metal/minerals from the face to the final product output. 
  • Ensure that the Mine Call Factor (MCF) calculations conducted by the gold mines comply with best practice and advise on methods to improve the MCF on individual mines. 

Coordination /oversight

  • Coordinates and follows-up with the affiliate mines and Precious Metals SBU projects to ensure that on mine/project resource generation programs are developed, implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure, in conjunction with the exploration department that on mine drilling programs maintain the correct focus and stay on schedule.
  • Liaise with exploration on new resource delineation projects

 

Standard Operating Procedure

  • Develop and maintain the currency of the following Standard Operating Procedures for the Precious Metals SBU:

•       Resources Planning and Design

•       Grade control

•       Ore Body Management

•       Mine Survey
