Responsibilities:
Maintain & repair Paste Plant equipment such as Slurry pumps, Water pumps, piping, filtration & paste/cement mixing systems. Welding and fabrication skills would be a plus. Previous experience with computer based predictive and preventative maintenance programs would be helpful. Successful candidates will:
• Responsible for pre-shift inspection of work areas and equipment, and responds accordingly.
• Plan and complete work based on Company guidelines for safety, environmental compliance and general work practices and procedures.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, modify, and repair equipment in the U/G Paste Plant facilities.
• Prepares work orders, changes out parts, checks the status of direct orders and interacts with Mill, Mine, warehouse, and purchasing personnel.
Experience & Skills:
• Previous experience in Paste Plant operation related to mine backfill is a plus.
• Applicants must have previous experience in mineral processing facility maintenance. Maintenance experience in Paste Plant/Backfill facility is a plus.
• Must develop a thorough understanding of standard operating procedures and be able to complete tasks with guidelines stipulated by company safety and environmental policies.
• Successful candidates will have solid verbal and written communication skills as well as good technical, problem solving and math skills.
• Position requires basic working knowledge and skills with a P.C.

Experience & Skills:
• Previous experience in Paste Plant operation related to mine backfill is a plus.
• Experience in mineral processing - milling facility involving operation of slurry pumps, water pumps, and slurry filtration is a minimum requirement.
• Familiarity with systems that utilize computer based process control.

Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and KPI information.
Perform other tasks necessary under the direction of the Maintenance General Foreman
Experience Required:
3 – 5 years supervisory experience with a mechanical or technical background in maintenance and / or a relevant mining experience and background
Good functional knowledge of the Oracle EAM Maintenance Management System or a similar EAM management system.
Thorough understanding of standard maintenance and operational procedures and be able to complete tasks with guidelines stipulated by Coeur safety and environmental policies.
Position requires excellent “people” and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Successful candidate must have advanced working knowledge and skills with computers utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, and other applicable Microsoft Office programs.

GEOLOGY MANAGER– Fruta Del Norte, Ecuador
This is a senior management opportunity to develop and lead the Geology department of this world-class underground gold and silver mining project.

The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Geology Manager will develop and lead the execution of processes, practices, methodologies and strategic initiatives of the mine geology team. By aligning with the long-term strategy and operating standards of the organization, you will ensure the continued growth of the team and maximize operational efficiencies, safety and profitability. Using your advanced professional knowledge, you will be relied upon as the subject matter expert related to internal and/or external initiatives. As this operation is currently in development, this is truly an opportunity to impact the organization from an early stage.

The Project
The Fruta del Norte (FDN) project is the first major mine development in Ecuador. The deposit is high grade, intermediate sulphidation epithermal gold-silver system, hosted in andesitic volcanics and will be an underground operation with on-site processing facilities.
FDN is located within a 95,000 hectare land package in southeastern Ecuador, in the province of Zamora-Chinchipe. Kinross acquired 100% of the project on September 30, 2008, through the acquisition of Aurelian Resources Inc.
Kinross expects to have a feasibility study completed by the end of 2011 with production planned in 2 phases going from an initial processing of approx. 2500 tpd to 5000 tpd with start-up targeted for late 2014.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
•    To develop and oversee the mine geology function, department and team including proposing new approaches, methods and policies;
•    To lead  and manage the mine geology team through effective and strategic task assignment, mentorship and incorporation of emerging trends related to geology;
•    To monitor and manage costs related to the department and implement recommendations to maximize operational efficiencies;
•    To analyze information and prepare technical documents to support decision making.

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements

•    BA or BSc degree in Geology is required and MS degree preferred;
•    Formal professional designation/registration in appropriate area of expertise;
•    10 - 15 years of related work experience including leadership responsibilities with significant underground projects/operations;
•    Strong language skills in both English and Spanish required;

The 100% Kinross-owned Kettle River-Buckhorn properties are located in Ferry County in the State of Washington. Kettle River-Buckhorn was engineered to keep its environmental footprint as small as possible.The Buckhorn gold deposit is located approximately 47 miles by road from Kinross' Kettle River gold milling facility. Originally conceived as an open pit mine, Buckhorn was redesigned and developed as an underground mine, and the Kettle River mill was refurbished to process the ore.The primary mining method employed is cut and fill, with a target production rate of 1200 tonne per day. The Buckhorn mine ore is trucked 47 miles to the Kettle River Mill, which has a 2200 tonne per day capacity.

Summary:    


This position is the mid-level millwright role.  Perform mechanical repairs on all stationary and mobile milling equipment.  Also, perform preventative maintenance on this equipment to optimize availability. Build and install modifications to milling system to increase productivity, reduce work load or enhance operation.
      


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 


- May require periodic guidance from Millwright III or Supervisor. 


- Install pumps, drive components, wear components, piping, chutes, idlers, bins, mill liners, and other production items. 


- Repair pumps, gearboxes, belts, bearing housings, drive units, crushers, hydraulic systems, conveying systems and other production equipment. 


- Maintain Pumps, gearboxes, belts, bearing housings, drive units, crushers, hydraulic systems, conveying systems and other production equipment. 


- Operate forklift, welder, cutting torch, grinders, drills, pneumatic tools, hand tools, bobcat, pickup, 966/988 loader, etc. 


- Operate Overhead Crane 


- Document repair procedures, parts used, hours required, readings taken, work order completion, preventive maintenance reports,


- Alignment of equipment:  Correct and proper use of precision instruments for aligning gears, bearings, couplers, reducers, etc. 


- Modification:  modify existing equipment, components, piping, chutes, boxes, vessels, etc.


- Fabrication:  Measure, layout, cut, sizing assembly, install piping, chutes, boxes, vessels, walkways, etc.


- Welding and cutting - Proper and safe operation of arc and mig welding oxy-acetylene torch, air arc cutting.
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.


Education and/or Experience: 
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Formal millwright or mechanic trade school or apprenticeship program.


- Preferred experience or education in crushing/conveying and milling equipment.

This is a senior technical opportunity to be an integral part of the development, construction and operations of this world-class gold mining and processing project.

The Role

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working with the project’s EPCM consultants, you will oversee and direct the engineering, equipment selection, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance of the piping aspects of the project. As a key member of the Technical Service team, you will be based at the company’s office in Quito, upon completion of design engineering, you will transition to site and act as the owner’s piping supervisor during construction, commissioning and start-up. An important part of your role is to work across functions including the operational development team to ensure operational and maintenance requirements are incorporated into the design specifications.

 

The Project

The Fruta del Norte (FDN) project is the first major mine development in Ecuador. The deposit is high grade, intermediate sulphidation epithermal gold-silver system, hosted in andesitic volcanics and will be an underground operation with on-site processing facilities.

 

FDN is located within a 95,000 hectare land package in southeastern Ecuador, in the province of Zamora-Chinchipe. Kinross acquired 100% of the project on September 30, 2008, through the acquisition of Aurelian Resources Inc.

 

Kinross expects to have a feasibility study completed by the end of 2011 with production planned in 2 phases going from an initial processing of approx. 2500 tpd to 5000 tpd with start-up targeted for late 2014.

El Proyecto

Fruta del Norte (FDN), es el primer gran proyecto minero en desarrollo. El depósito, con minerales de oro y plata, es una operación subterránea y sus instalaciones de proceso se ubicarán en el Sitio, el cual se encuentra en un terreno de 95.000 hectáreas en el Sureste de la Provincia de Zamora Chinchipe. Kinross adquirió el 100% del Proyecto luego de la adquisición, en Septiembre del 2008, de la Compañía Aurelian Resources Inc.

Formación y Habilidades requeridas
