Position Overview The North Slope Kuparuk drill site assets collectively produce ~ 125 MBOPD and 600 MMSCFD produced and lift gas, and inject 600 MBPD of water and 150 MMSCFD of Miscible Injectant. The Drillsite Facility Engineer serves as the primary ConocoPhillips engineering representative providing support to Operations, Maintenance, Construction, and other field support groups. This is a key technical leadership position in assuring the business unit meets overall business goals and objectives in the area of drill site surface facilities performance. The engineer also fulfills a project management function on a portfolio of small construction projects, and liaisons with Anchorage based Major Projects Engineering on larger scale projects.
The engineering organization employs a combination of Anchorage based DS Facility Engineers (40 hr work week) and North Slope based DS Facility Engineers (14 on/14 off or 7 on/7 off) working as a team to provide Kuparuk drill site support. The current vacancy is an Anchorage based assignment that requires occasional overnight travel to the North Slope. This can serve as an initial position for candidates desiring a subsequent slope assignment.
. Responsibilities The Drillsite Facilities Engineer responsibilities may include:
- Providing design and basic engineering support for a Central Processing Facility (CPF) with 13-19 drillsites and responsibility from the wellhead to the inlet manifold of the CPF.
- Providing technical consultation services to Operations via interfacing with Superintendent, Supervisors, Operators, and Maintenance Technicians to clarify day-to-day facility operations and engineering issues, planned maintenance, regulatory compliance, troubleshooting and incident investigations/breakdown reports.
- Recommending and implementing modifications to systems to reduce operating expenses, enhance HSE performance or economically maximize production.
- Leading facility's process safety management programs including MOC, PHA and equipment integrity. Perform Risk Assessments as required to comply with the HSE Management System.
- Continuously monitoring and reporting on the progress of facility projects.
- Providing technical review of all major projects modifications to ensure continuity of operations, process safety, and assurance of project deliverables.
- Ensuring applicable industry and company standard and codes are adhered to and seek support of company Technical Authorities as required for clarifications.
- Providing leadership and strong advocacy for process and personal safety through participation in the facility and field safety processes.
- Provide Facility Engineering relief support for the NS based Facility Engineers on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
Basic/Required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
- 2+ years of Oil and Gas Industry experience including gas / oil production, gathering, separation & processing, chemical processing, refining, etc.
- Basic understanding of Facility Engineering fundamentals including a working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC)
- Experience with the use of Industry Codes, Standards and Recommended Practices.
- Must possess a valid US driver's license.
- Must be willing and able to occasionally travel to the North Slope for field support. Travel expectation would be 1-3 days per month with opportunities to also work 7 days on/7 days off rotating work schedule during the year for professional development and/or vacation relief.
Preferred
- 4+ years of Oil and Gas Industry experience including gas / oil production, gathering, separation & processing, chemical processing, refining, etc.
- 2+ years in US Oil and Gas Industry upstream experience including gas / oil production, well testing, gas compression and re-injection, corrosion and scale inhibition, water injection, miscible injectant recovery processes, etc.
- 1+ years of field engineering experience in a direct maintenance or operations support role
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a decisive and committed way to deliver results that are sustainable and measurable. Track record of delivering results on time and within budget
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple assignments in a changing environment. Capable of handling a large volume of diverse tasks. Capable of adapting to changes in project scope
- Must to able to foster working relationships with numerous levels of the organization and other departments. Strong interpersonal, teamwork and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
