Transportation ConocoPhillips owns or leases various Transportation assets - pipelines, terminals, marine vessels, railcars and trucks - to provide strategic, timely and environmentally safe delivery and storage of crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquids to its refineries and to carry refined products to the market. 


  
Responsibilities
  
Responsibilities for the SCADA Support Specialist may include:

  • Facilitating SCADA System Change Requests for field instrumentation and associated pipeline modifications while recognizing the needs of internal customers.
  • Balancing multitasking requirements that include the application of standards and policies as set out by ConocoPhillips Pipe Line (CPPL), including processes very specific to Control System management. A focus of safety, accuracy, quality and excellence are mandatory for the following components that create the core infrastructure of CPPL Control System.

  • 1. Communications - Satellite and telephone MODEM technology. Proprietary protocol translation interface equipment. 
    2. SCADA - an integral collection of servers and workstations that provide remote pipeline control based on an infrastructure of MS Windows, with historical archive and remote web-based access.
  • Conducting configuration and maintenance management with the goal of further optimizing the Pipeline Control System.  
  • Participating in an on-call duty rotation with responsibilities for 24-hour response to Pipeline Control System problems and customer support needs

Qualifications

 

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the USA on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions
  • Maintain a valid operators driving license
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Associates degree in a technical related field
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with seven other support specialists with an expectation to respond to after hour callouts within 30 minutes, by either reporting on site or via remote access through use of personal broad band internet connectivity. If on-site assistance is required, response time shall be managed to be within 60 minutes or less.
  • Willing and able to travel overnight, possibly up to 5% of the time
  • Willing and able to work more than 40 hours per week, as needed
  • Experience with MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
  • SQL Server clustering 2000/2005 on Windows 2008 R2.
  • SQL performance tuning, backup and recovery options and security.     
  • Visual Basic or C sharp programming.
  • Experience in SCADA system.
  • Proficient in.NET programming

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, MIS or other related IT/IS degrees
  • Previous experience with pipeline equipment and facilities or other oil and gas industry exposure.
  • Previous operating experience with a TELVENT DNA SCADA specializing in at least two of the following disciplines;
    • PLM
    • Flowpath
    • Batch Tracking
    • ACE scripting
    • AutoCAD drafting tools
  • Previous operating experience with large scale open RDA ati SCADA database.
  • Experience in index maintenance and index performance tuning
  • Experience with optimizing and development of performance based SQL queries.
  • Log shipping setup (GUI and scripted) troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Proficient MS Windows DNS rules and security, Active Directory domain controllers, server 2003/2008 operating system and Structured Query Language on MS-SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 platform.
  • Proficient with CISCO networking equipment in an IP environment.
  • Proficient in .NET programming.
  • Virtualization experience, VMware preferred.
  • Familiarity in the KU-band satellite communications equipment, including VSAT survey work and installation troubleshooting.
  • Self starter possessing a positive attitude and pride in work.
  • Willingness to take ownership with minimal supervision.
  • Previous direct experience working in a collaborative work environment, with the ability to openly discuss and share ideas amongst a workgroup composed of individuals with a high level of technical skill.
  • Previous direct experience investigating, documenting and providing solutions based on root cause analysis methodology.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs.
