Job Description:
The ground control engineer will report directly to the Chief Mine Engineer to provide geotechnical guidance to both engineering and operations. Responsibilities include managing the micro seismic monitoring program, mine backfill program, ground support, stoping strategies (with mid and long range planning engineers), instrumentation, excavation design, and numerical modeling.
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor Degree in a related discipline (Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering) and eligibility for PEO designation. Preference will be a post secondary degree in Rock Mechanics with 5+ years experience as a ground control engineer in an underground hard rock mine as well as experience with micro-seismic monitoring, geomechanics software, ground support design and mine planning
