Currently, Barrick has an opening for a Process Plant Mechanical Supervisor- Neutralization. Position is fly in / fly out, working four weeks on with one day of rest each week followed by three weeks of rest.
The Mechanical Supervisor – Neutralization is responsible for the safe and effective mechanical maintenance of the hot cure, CCD, lime boil, Fe and HDS neutralization, lime and limestone distribution assets within the processing facility. The incumbent will ensure proper safety and environmental management systems are followed as well as ensuring employee training activities are carried out.
Duties and Responsibilities - Pre Operating phase
* In partnership with electrical, planning and reliability personnel develop and refine the mechanical maintenance strategies and programs for the plant.
* In collaboration with the other personnel of the process plant, establish the safety and workplace standards that will pertain to the area of responsibility
* Assist the Mechanical General Supervisor to develop and write mechanical standards and procedures.
* Assist in defining the training requirements and establishing a comprehensive Training Needs Analysis matrix for national mechanical personnel.
* Actively contribute to hands on training of national employees.
* Identify, purchase and manage tools and equipment for mechanical maintenance activities required in the area of responsibility.
* Apply care and maintenance programs as required for the equipment turned over to PVDC before start-up.
* With Operations and E&I supervisory staff, lead cross functional commissioning team activities. The incumbent will be part of the pre-ops and start-up team.
* Report progress of commissioning activities and progression, safety and environmental obligations.
* Develop and foster a work culture within the group with emphasis on safe, efficient and financially aware work practises, focused on continuous improvement and achievement.
* Lead the application and use of safety and training programs, including (but not limited to) risk awareness and management, Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP’s), Workplace Inspections, Task Observations and specific Training programs.
* Assign and supervise daily activities of team members to ensure maintenance schedule compliance and weekly targets are achieved.
* Manage Short Interval Control programs to ensure daily work group productivity is maintained.
* Ensure plant and equipment are maintained and operated in accordance with the required standards
* Ensure team members are focused on and comply with the site safety and environmental standards.
* Manage attendance and timekeeping of section team members.
* Mentor and develop national personnel demonstrating leadership and supervisory attributes.
* Ensure work group personnel training goals are achieved.
* Conduct performance evaluations of work group team members.
* In collaboration with electrical, operations, reliability and planning groups develop and maintain short term plans.
* Assist the Mechanical General Supervisor developing and implementing medium term work execution plans.
* Work closely with the planning group in estimating resource and material requirements for forecast maintenance activities.

Completion of a certified program of competence as a Journey Millwright or Mechanical Tradesperson complemented by leadership and supervisory training. Additional qualifications in adult education and/or mechanical engineering are highly regarded.
10+ years of experience in a hydro metallurgical or petro chemical facility with 3+ years as a supervisor.
Skills & Abilities
* Demonstrated skills and ability leading and managing a multicultural maintenance team in a complex process plant.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft products and CMMS systems.
* Proven skills and experience maintaining high rate thickeners, hot and acidic slurry and solution cooling, storage and pumping systems.
* Maintenance skills and ability with hydraulic systems, large centrifugal pumps, gear reducers, agitators, slurry and solution cooling systems, ceramic and refractory lined vessels.
* Knowledge of welding applications in duplex/super duplex stainless steel piping and vessel fabrication and repair.
* A solid understanding of maintenance techniques, philosophies and their application.
* Experienced in developing and managing safety and training programs.
* Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
* Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
