Reports To: Electrical/Instrumentation Supervisor
Location: Pueblo Viejo Site
A hands on role directly involved in the maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment and systems utilized throughout the process plant. The scope of plant and equipment includes but is not limited to, power distribution, low and medium voltage switchgear, motors and motor control, instrumentation, industrial communication and process control systems.
The mentoring and development of Dominican national electrical and instrumentation personnel will be a significant part of this role.
* Actively participate in the development of electrical and instrumentation standards and procedures.
* Participate in a leading, hands-on role during the plant commissioning to ensure an expedient and smooth transition into operations.
* Promote a safe, efficient and effective work culture focused on continuous improvement and achievement.
* Ensure plant and equipment are maintained and operated in accordance with the required standards.
* Work closely with the E&I supervisor in ensuring safety and environmental compliance of the team.
* Contribute to skills development by actively imparting knowledge to, and providing on-the-job training and mentoring of, Dominican national technicians and trainees.
* Provide regular feedback to the E&I supervisor and maintenance training section on skills development activities and results to ensure the successful succession planning of Dominican national maintenance personnel.
* Carry out preventative maintenance, installation and repair activities of electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment as required.
* Lead E&I teams in maintenance work activities.
* Ensure E&I teams maintain high standards of work execution, safety and housekeeping.
Lead technicians, journeypersons, trainees and helpers.

Qualifications:
Completion of a certified program of competence in Electrical and/or Instrumentation as a journeyman or technician. Additional qualifications in adult education or industrial training would be highly regarded.
10+ years of experience in a hydro metallurgical or petro chemical plant with 2+ years in a senior, lead or supervisory role.
Skills & Abilities
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft products and CMMS systems.
* Proven technical skills fault finding and repairing complex electrical, instrumentation and control and communication systems.
* Experience with some of the following: ABB ACS 1000 and 6000 drives and cyclo-converters, GE LV VFD’s, Siemens/Robicon MV VFD’s AB compactLogix and controlLogix PLC’s, Emerson DeltaV DCS and AMS, Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation, DeviceNet, Ethernet and Modbus communications, large synchronous and wound rotor motors and starters, ABB and GE switchgear, area and process gas analyzers, xrf analyzers, laboratory instrumentation, intrinsically safe and explosion proof monitoring and control equipment.
* Competent operating medium and low voltage electrical switchgear.
* Able to work with minimal supervision and support in a technically challenging plant.
* Experienced programming DCS and PLC systems.
* Proven experience in control valve maintenance and repair.
* Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
* Proven ability training and developing others.
* Bilingual English/Spanish required.
