Job Title:                                    Mechanical Lead Hand
Reports To:                                 Mechanical Supervisor
Location:                                    Pueblo Viejo Site

Position Overview:
A hands on role directly involved in the maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of mechnical equipment and systems utilized throughout the processing Facility plant. The scope of plant and equipment includes but is not limited to, crushing, grinding, lime production, pressure oxidation, high rate thickening, gold refining and neutralization.  The mentoring and development of Dominican national technicians and trainees will be a significant part of this role.

Duties and Responsibilities - Pre Operating phase
* Actively participate in the development of mechanical standards and procedures.
* Participate in a leading, hands-on role during the plant commissioning to ensure an expedient and smooth transition into operations.

Duties and Responsibilities - Operational Phase
* Promote a safe, efficient and effective work culture focused on continuous improvement and achievement.
* Ensure plant and equipment are maintained and operated in accordance with the required standards.
* Work closely with the Mechanical supervisor in ensuring safety and environmental compliance of the team.
* Contribute to skills development by actively imparting knowledge to, and providing on-the-job training and mentoring of, Dominican national millwrights and trainees.
* Provide regular feedback to the Mechanical supervisor and maintenance training section on skills development activities and results to ensure the successful succession planning of Dominican national maintenance personnel.
* Carry out preventative maintenance, installation and repair activities of processing equipment as required.
* Lead Mechanical teams in maintenance work activities.
* Ensure Mechanical teams maintain high standards of work execution, safety and housekeeping.

Supervisory Requirements:
Lead technicians, millwirights, trainees and helpers.

Qualifications:

Education
Completion of a certified program of competence as a Journeyperson Millwright or Mechanical Tradesperson. Additional qualifications in adult education or industrial training would be highly regarded.

Experience
7+ years of experience in a hydro metallurgical or petro chemical plant with 2+ years in a senior, lead or supervisory role.


Skills & Abilities

* Demonstrated ability leading maintenance teams.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft products and CMMS systems.
* Proven skills and experience maintaining some of the following: Large crushing and grinding equipment, materials handling systems, lime production equipment, Pressure Oxidation facilities, large high rate thickeners, CIL and gold refining circuits.
* Demonstrated skills and ability in a combination of hydraulic systems, lubrication activities, large centrifugal pumps, valves, gear reducers, conveyors and rubber and belt repair, welding applications in titanium and duplex/super duplex stainless steel.
* Able to work with minimal supervision and support in a technically challenging plant.
* Above average communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
* Proven ability training and developing others.
* Bilingual English/Spanish required.
