Position Overview The Senior Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall co-ordination of all Hitachi excavator and shovel maintenance related activities at the Pueblo Viejo Mine Site to a standard that is in accordance to the country’s laws and PVDC policy and procedure. The person in this position will ensure that this work is carried out in a safe, timely and cost effective way. Key Performance Areas

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain two large hydraulic excavators to world class standards of safety and availability.
- Hold both classroom and hands on training for maintenance technicians
- Assist in the daily and long term planning of maintenance activities on the excavator fleet.
- Interview and hire a local workforce, including supervisors.
- R&D for the excavator fleet in order to optimize earth moving and maintain availability.
- Manage and train a local workforce (very un-experienced) to become self-sufficient in the maintenance of this fleet. This includes performance management and succession planning
- Interact daily with multi-national teams of maintenance, mine operations and other departments when required.
- Maintain a pro-active approach to all aspects of operational safety and encourage teamwork within the department. Consider the very low level of safety awareness in the country.
- Make provision for good Housekeeping at all work areas.
- Hold pre-shift meetings where all the important information is clearly communicated to all the team members.
- Resolve personnel matters or forward them to HR or the Supervisor for further treatment.
- Ensure production delays are minimized and are within set times.
- Ensure that Hitachi spare parts inventory is up to date and maintained.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Report main activities to the Mine Maintenance Superintendent
- Ensure that Safe Working Procedures are followed for all tasks
- Do the Job Safety Assessment, hazard Identification and risk assessments before any job and document accordingly.
- Ensure good housekeeping at the shift change, pits and all work areas, with particular attention to hydrocarbon products.
- Ensure minimal delays for planned and break-down maintenance.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities

Education Formal training related to the maintenance of Hitachi Hydraulic Excavators or similar industry equipment. Experience
- At least 10 years open pit mining equipment maintenance experience
- At least 5 years in supervisory position
- Computer literate
- Experience in training sub-ordinates and local staff.
- Spanish language skills will be preferred

- Conducts inspections of health and safety conditions and risks in working area and reports and corrects sub-standard item/conditions/risks and unsafe acts to his supervisor.
