De Beers Canada Inc. Exploration Division is looking for a detailed oriented, self-starter
looking to be part of a close knit team working together to find the next diamond mine. In
this position the successful incumbent will provide effective interpretation and review of
geophysical surveys for exploration. This position will focus on the planning, execution,
interpreting, and review of exploration geophysical surveys for the discovery of primary
diamond deposits, using state of the art geophysical techniques. This position reports to
the Project Manager and is based in the Toronto office. The incumbent may be required
to spend extended periods, up to six (6) weeks at a time, in the field.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
Promoting the importance of Safety, Health and Environment in the workplace;
Conducting ground geophysical surveys, such as gravity, magnetic, MT, and EM;
Quality assurance for airborne surveys, such as magnetic, EM, and gravity;
The full pipeline of geophysical surveying: planning reports detailing technical risks, survey
tendering, field execution, data interpretation and integration, peer reviews, target modeling,
final reporting, and data archiving;
Remaining abreast of technical developments, implementing new concepts, and generating
professional technical reports and recommendations;
Collecting geological data by sampling, drilling, core logging and geotechnical logging of kimberlite
core.
Requirements:
Minimum of a B.Sc. degree (M.Sc. preferred) in Geophysics, combined with three to
five years of experience working within the Canadian exploration environment;
Field geophysics experience;
APGO certification or eligibility for certification;
Strong analytical skills, ability to manage interpersonal relationships, and excellent
organizational, verbal, and written communication skills;
Ability to work in both small teams and independently;
Ability to work at a remote site;
Advanced working knowledge of Geosoft’s Oasis montaj, Target, and DAP, Encom’s
Model Vision and PA, ArcMap, and MS Office applications, including MS Project and Access.
