Job Description:

Golder Associates is seeking a Junior Materials Engineer to join their Ottawa office. Candidates will have the opportunity to continue to develop their skills set as they will be responsible for the following:


- Participating on Municipal / MTO pavement and materials infrastructure engineering projects;

- Being part of a team providing engineering services to other consulting engineering firms;

- Performing condition surveys of buildings, bridges and other concrete structures;

- Conducting Field work including pavement investigations, site reconnaissance and construction site supervision;

- Coordinating field activities with the work performed by subcontractors;

- Obtaining samples in the field, scheduling laboratory testing and compiling the test results;

- Assisting with writing project reports; and,

- Performing other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:


- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological (Geotechnical) Engineering, with a M.Sc. or M.Eng. Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline such as pavement, materials, or geotechnical preferred;

- Graduate students or recent graduates with one to two years of work experience;

- Must be eligible to register as an engineer in training in the Province of Ontario with the intention of becoming a licensed professional engineer;

- Strong all-round academic knowledge of geotechnical / pavement / materials engineering;

- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);

- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment; and,

- Bilingualism (French / English) an asset.
