Job Description:
The Greater Vancouver (Burnaby) Office of Golder Associates is seeking a Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer to support our growing Mining Division. As a key member of the Mineral Project Evaluations Group, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide leadership in all aspects of project work and business development;
- Provide consultation on open pit mining projects for North American and international clients;
- Design, implement and oversee engineering studies (preliminary assessments, preliminary feasibility studies and feasibility studies), property assessments and technical reports compliant with NI 43-101 and other regulatory agencies;
- Provide advice to mining operations;
- Conduct due diligence reviews and independent report work;
- Be available for travel to mine sites as required.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in mining engineering;
- A minimum of 15 years work experience with an emphasis on open pit mine planning, design and pit operations including drilling and blasting;
- Experience as a consulting engineer;
- The ability to establish and maintain solid client relationships;
- Highly effective leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of, and ability to use, pit optimization and mine planning software such as Whittle, Gemcom, Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, or other;
- Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC;
- Experience mentoring junior and intermediate employees.
