Summary of Principal Functions
Complete several small projects within the Corporate Accounting department. The intern will receive guidance from and work closely with different stakeholders within Corporate Accounting, and be responsible for completing various projects by a set deadline.
Specific Responsibilities
· Prepares financial statements, consolidated statements, accounting supporting schedules and other ad hoc reports and analysis as requested.
· Analyzes financial reports and records, making recommendations as appropriate relative to the reported data.
· Reviews and verifies the accuracy, completeness and consistency of reported data.
· Applies knowledge of accounting methods and Company procedures.
· Provides assistance to mine accounting personnel and Cleveland Office personnel regarding accounting matters.
· Interact with officers, department heads, public accountants, actuaries, insurance providers and other providers of goods and services as appropriate.
· Monitor Company expenditure requests to ensure compliance and adherence to Company policy and procedure.
· Maintain general ledger, accounts payable, administrative allocation, fixed asset and checking writing systems.
· Prepares quarterly and year-end audit schedules in support of Company’s annual audit.
· Prepares tax packages as required by the Tax Department supporting the annual tax return.
· Prepares bank and other account reconciliations.
· Prepares and posts journal entries to the general ledger system.
Education Requirements: Must be enrolled in a program to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience Requirements: Entry-level opportunity. Previous internship experience preferred.
