The Auto Electrician Supervisor/Trainer will provide leadership, first-line supervision, technical assistance and training to a staff of industrial auto electrical technicians, as well as maintenance personnel at the Tasiast Mine Site, in Mauritania, Africa. The ideal candidate will maximize operational efficiencies, safety, and profitability to cultivate exceptional stakeholder and employee satisfaction. They will develop budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans for the maintenance function and establish controls to ensure the reporting of accurate costs and availability data.
It is imperative that the position focuses on safety, production and cost targets at all times. This position will provide complex technical support to the plant, general, and mill maintenance functions and will follow established policies, practices, and procedures when completing work assignments.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:
To supervise a system, program or process in electrical / maintenance
- Answers queries and handles requests related to electrical / maintenance which includes problem solving and judgment
- Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to electrical / maintenance while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches
- Escalates issues requiring knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions. Works with mentor if needed
- Prepares reports and completes documentation related to electrical / maintenance
- Assists with special projects related to electrical / maintenance
- Sets priorities and allocates resources; analyzes maintenance functions and makes adjustments to crew size as demands change Monitors efficiency of all maintenance teams
- Maximizes equipment utilization and minimizes downtime
- Monitors, analyzes, and implements changes to ensure maintenance is preventative, predictive, and proactive
- Monitors and reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed
- May mentor or train less experienced employees on operating standards, procedures and methods
To provide technical support and customer service related to electrical / maintenance
- Addresses queries and resolves issues for internal customers while ensuring service standards are met
- Ensures internal customers comply with company policy and procedures and regulations in electrical / maintenance
- Provides training to internal customers as needed
- Prepares communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to electrical / maintenance
To supervise and provide work direction to the electrical / maintenance team
- Directs the activities of a team including defining and delegating work assignments
- Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models the organization’s values
- Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures for the electrical / maintenance team
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- Auto Electrical Trade / degree preferred
- Post Trade 5 - 8 years of related work experience
- Willing and able to work overseas in Mauritania in a rotational role
- Experience managing employees
- Complete understanding of mine and maintenance operations
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work with others in a team environment
