Position Description:
The position will be responsible day to day activities management of the underground mine
ore control activities, geologic interpretation, production infill drilling, and delivering
production data & reports. Emphasis will be on ore grade control, minimizing of dilution,
sorting of ore types and tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality. The incumbent will also
be responsible for resource modeling and resource estimates and assist in short and long term
mine planning. In addition, responsibilities include overseeing geotechnical data collection
and assist in ground control design and procedures for underground mine development and
production stopes. All the while ensuring a strong commitment to safety and environmental
compliance.
Job Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Geology, Geologic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience in underground hard rock mining
• Minimum of 2 years on site experience in narrow vein mining & back filling
• Experience in underhand cut and fill stoping methods
• Experience in geotechnical mapping, rock mechanics, ground control
techniques, related analysis and design
• Proficient in resource modeling & designing of UG mine development
• Capable of utilizing latest computer & software technologies such as
Microsoft office products, CAD software, and mining programs such as
Vulcan, Surpac, MineSite, Gemcom or Dataminec.
• Supervisory experience with both technical and non technical personnel
Job Requirements:
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties
• Ability to manage contractors & consultants
• Optimize the extraction of mineralized zones and minimize dilution
• Supervise other mine engineers, geologist and surveyors
• Conduct resource modeling and resource estimates
• Assist in design of underground mine development and production stopes
• Assist in mine planning activities for both short term and long term
• Responsible for coordinating ore control activities, sorting of ore types and
tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality with mine operations
• Responsible for preparation of daily, monthly and yearly production reports
• Prepare clearly written monthly reports and other documentation on required
frequencies.
• Prepare capital and operating cost estimates
• Develop and manage budgets
• Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with Pinson
employees, contractors and consultants.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize time, work, and resources.
• Other tasks as required in support of company objectives
