- Must be proficient in all Entry level Tech IV duties
- Must have a good understanding of MSHA and NEC codes
- Must be proficient with 480-volt systems and familiar with high-voltage systems
- Become familiar with overhead power distribution
- Must be able to work on AC or DC systems wiring/unwiring and testing
- Must have a good understanding of an assortment of generators (fundamentals / maintenance)
- Become familiar with sizing, wiring and trouble shooting of an assortment of generators
- Assist with the maintenance planning and perform electrical PM’s
- Must be proficient in cable splices and repairs, transformer connects, wiring for medium voltage for the Dewatering needs Must be able to read and understand electrical schematic
- Become familiar with the installation of VFD motor controllers from low voltage to high voltage
- Must demonstrate knowledge in testing and trouble shooting of transformers ranging from small control transforms to three phase distribution transformers
- Must have a good working knowledge and understanding troubleshooting of single phase and three phase electrical distribution circuits
- Knowledgeable in the use of electrical test equipment, hand and power tools
- Become familiar with the large horsepower motors used by the Dewatering department
- Independently diagnose shop or field problems with minimum supervision
- Understanding basic heat tracing fundamentals
- Demonstrate the ability to be a team player and work with and around other mine departments
- Operate light to medium vehicles safety, including pre-operational inspection, mounting and dismounting of vehicles
- Hold and operate a telephone or radio with sufficient ability to carry on a conversation for the purpose of following work assignments and providing feedback to supervision
- Read, comprehend, and interpret various types of pressure gauges, flow meters and electrical readings. Be able to proficiently analyze the data
- Read, comprehend, and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets, labels on products, warning signs and gauges to prevent loss of personnel, property, and process
- Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, respirators, wet suits, earplugs, gloves, or any other equipment to perform duties safely
- Maintains a consistent high quality and quantity of work Complete paperwork accurately and neatly
- Learn basic computer skills required for the Dewatering department needs (Requisition parts out of the warehouse, how to find SOP, MSDS sheets, proper forms and ellipse)
- Coordinates and cooperates with all related departments to ensure maximum productivity
- Become proficient in troubleshooting/diagnosing all dewatering electrical problems
- Develop a good understanding of the overhead power distribution
