Contracts & Supply Chain Management (SCM):•             Responsible for all project site related commercial activities including contracts management, procurement, logistics, material management, asset management, logistics and business readiness. •             Provide management oversight of the  project and operations SCM Team and all of its commercial activities and material management activities, including expediting and logistics of materials purchased for construction.•             Responsible for planning for all of  operations commercial activities related to mine operations procurement, contracts, logistics, asset management and business readiness including development of Project Execution Plans (for Stages 3, 4 and 5).•             Collaborate and coordinate with Newmont Corporate Project Commercial Group and the Corporate Supply Chain Management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:          Contract  & Supply Chain Management:•             As part of the site project team assume responsibilities for the project’s commercial affairs comprising acquisition of goods and services.•             Develop and thereafter implement the stage 3, 4 and 5Project Execution Plans as it relates to operations and construction contracts, supply chain management, asset management, logistics and business readiness activities.•             Develop Project specific contracting and procurement procedures and prepare ‘Newmont (Surgold)’ contract and procurement templates for project.•             Develop procedures for the review and approve site construction and operations  purchase orders, contracts and other commitments.•             Manage contracts and purchasing activities for Construction Mine Operations Development.•             Develop a business readiness plan in collaboration with Corporate Supply Chain to ensure all equipment, spare parts and vendor service agreements and supply agreements are in place at start-up.•             Work with Project Pangaea personnel to develop and implement a SAP systems transition plan for the project as it relates to all aspects of SCM.•             Develop an organization and resource plan required to accomplish the fore mentioned scope of responsibilities.•             Manage contractor and vendor compliance of domestic and foreign taxes, legal requirements, and insurance and coordinate changes with representatives of these departments and relevant stakeholders. WORKING CONDITIONS:              The position is initially based in Denver with significant travel to Montreal during the first half of 2012 to the Merian Project engineering office and will permanently transition to site in Suriname as the Project activities move to site; extensive travel to other domestic and international offices is required.

 

Qualifications

 TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:           •             Bachelor’s degree BA/BS is required.•             A minimum of 20 years of experience in executing major capital projects including experience working in developing countries.•             In depth experience in project management including construction contracting, equipment procurement, material/inventory control and logistics for major development projects.•             Experience and a high level of understanding of Engineering & Construction (E&C) industry practices in conducting formal tenders including the development of tender packages, contract preparation and purchase order preparation, contract negotiations and award.•             Broad based experience in major equipment procurement, construction bulk commodities procurement, material control, international logistics and inspection, and contracts administration.•             Experience in the mining and minerals industry strongly preferred, including experience in mining capital equipment.•             Strong oral and written communication skills required.•             Interpersonal skills and ability to work at all organizational levels and departments required.
