To lead the execution of the long-term strategy for the geology function and to ensure alignment with the organization’s overall strategy. To maximize operational efficiencies and profitability. Act as advisor to the Exploration Manager, Chirano for the application of geological science to exploration and deposit models allowing the company to identify and advance projects in a cost and time effective manner. Ensure activities are planned and conducted in accordance with company policies and practices as well as being in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties • Respect and promote a safe working environment • Develop geological understanding and strategy to maximize exploration effort • Apply these geological understanding at all scales during exploration activities which includes: . Planning and prioritizing exploration activities across mine lease and company tenements . QA/QC of geological data . Preparing work scopes near mine, ore shoot and district targeting . Input of data, creating and assessing geological models • Supervise Geological mapping and core logging • Advice mining and processing divisions on resource and geology questions • Produce geological and other technical documents as required for all aspects of exploration requirements. • Ore interpretation and modeling • Assess the viability of new projects from grass roots level to operating mines
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements • Bachelor, MSc & above degree in Geology • 10+ years of exploration and mining company experience in technical role with proven field experience • Experience in being responsible for running exploration programs independently • Experience with 3D mine planning software, Micromine, Surpac, MapInfo, ArcGIS, Gemcom, MS Office suite software • Experience Greenstone Exploration projects • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required • Greenstone gold experience preferred • Team player • Displays initiative, discipline, reliability and dependability. • Willing to travel and doing field work
